Before we begin a soundproofing audit or a noise reduction blueprint, we want the terms of engagement to be clear. These clarifications define how we measure, report, and guarantee acoustic outcomes so there is no misunderstanding between our engineers and your plant management team.

What exactly does a structural soundproofing analysis cover?

Our analysis covers airborne noise transmission through walls, floors, and ceilings, plus structure-borne vibration from rotating and reciprocating machinery. We inspect panel damping, flanking paths, and mechanical services penetrations. The final report lists measured decibel levels at defined grid points, identifies dominant transmission paths, and ranks retrofit options by expected insertion loss.

Are noise reduction blueprints guaranteed to meet regulatory limits?

We design blueprints to meet the limits you specify, whether those come from the Department of Occupational Safety and Health or your own corporate standard. The guarantee applies to the calculated performance of the installed treatment under the operating conditions we model. If you change production equipment, shift layouts, or add new exhaust fans after installation, the original figures no longer apply and a re-audit is required.

How are noise measurements taken on site?

We use Class 1 sound level meters and accelerometers placed at operator ear height and on structural contact points. Measurements run for at least one full production shift to capture load variations. We record both continuous equivalent levels and short-term maximum values, then cross-reference the data with machine operating logs so each reading can be traced to a specific process state.

What assumptions go into the acoustic simulation models?

Simulations assume standard atmospheric conditions, a given room absorption coefficient, and the machinery layout provided at the time of the audit. We model the plant as a diffuse field with defined boundary impedances. If the plant changes its production schedule, adds reflective surfaces, or alters ceiling height, the model must be updated to stay accurate.

Do you provide post-installation verification?

Yes. After the recommended treatments are installed, we return to measure the same grid points and compare the results against the baseline. The verification report states the achieved reduction in decibels, notes any areas where the target was not met, and explains the cause. This step is optional but recommended for plants that need documented proof for compliance audits.

What is not included in a standard acoustic audit?

A standard audit does not cover architectural redesign, structural reinforcement, or the procurement of acoustic materials. We focus on diagnosis and treatment design. If the plant needs help selecting suppliers, coordinating contractors, or integrating noise control into a larger renovation, we can provide that as a separate scope with its own timeline and deliverables.
